The Indian government recently issued a press release declaring their intentions to innovate the design field in their country. The government is calling for the creation of Desgin-hubs where educational standards will be streamlined with global standards. Read the press release here.
For some like the members of Design With India, this move is seen as a door opening to the integration of Asian design into the international community.
For India to transform itself through design and to improve its design
competence to international standards, it is necessary for Indian
designers to form long-term partnerships across multiple disciplines.
The external partners can expect ample scope for business growth in
India, and will discover opportunities to experiment and to learn to
design for unfamiliar markets—a capacity they must develop to succeed
in any emerging market.
Whatever the market consequences, new partnerships with Indian designers will lead to global innovation and exciting changes in our artistic consciousness.
